DIY At Home: The Pedicure
Researchers have proven that having a pedicure can be extremely advantageous. They don’t simply help your feet feel better; when they incorporate things like massage, pedicures can improve blood circulation, bring down your stress, and reduce pain. But then, most people aren’t really enthused about the idea of professional pedicures. Professional pedicurists make use of the same tubs over and over again and there is no way to make certain whether or not their tools are really hygienic. Thankfully, it’s possible to give yourself a pedicure. So here’s how you can give yourself a pedicure without having to step out of the house.
Get rid of any nail polish with a non-acetone polish remover (acetone is not good for your health). Trim your nails straight across and use a nail file to file down any roughness. See to it that you use a toenail clipper for this instead of a fingernail clipper. Clippers designed for clipping fingernails are curved and can make your toenails become ingrown and painful.
Try using a foot bath to soak your feet. Try to let your feet stay in a tub filled with warm water for a few minutes. You can try putting things like lavender bath salts or other skin softeners and soothers. This makes your foot bath more relaxing and is a great way to take care of your feet to help them feel better. You can get ingredients for your foot bath in just about every store that carries bath and body products. There are several that cost a lot of money but pick the ingredients you like the best.
Use a pumice to smooth down any rough patches or calluses that could still remain after the foot soak. don’t try to use a callus shaver or similar tool. Good old pumice stones work just fine here.
Wash your feet when you are finished using the pumice. After you’ve rinsed off the foot soak and any callus dust or dust from the pumice, slather some moisturizing lotion. There are plenty of moisturizing lotions that are made particularly for the feet. It is perfectly okay to just rub in the lotion rapidly if you are pressed for time, but try not to settle for this. Rather, if you have the time, try to massage in the lotion. Massaging works to calm down not only your feet but the rest of your body too.
As soon as your feet are clean, clear of calluses and moisturized, it is time to prep them to be gorgeous. This isn’t crucial but it can do wonders for your self-esteem to know that, even if they are enclosed in shoes, your toes are attractive looking. Try to push back your cuticles with a cuticle pusher (the trimmers will cut your skin and cause infections). Next, apply a base layer of nail strengthening polish. And after that has dried, you can use any color of nail polish you prefer.
At home pedicures don’t need to take a long time and are usually less expensive than what you would pay for professional services. They’re terrific for the health of your whole body so start right now! what are you waiting for?
